The Plasencia Cosecha 151, originally earmarked for an August release date, is heading out to retailers today and the company says that the Honduran cigar is made entirely with tobaccos from a specific vintage.
According to the Plasencia family, which is one of the largest growers of premium tobacco in Nicaragua and Honduras, the Cosecha 151 is made with Honduran tobacco from the company’s 151st harvest, which took place in 2016-2017. The Plasencias say that particular growing season produced a banner crop in Honduras.
Intended to be a medium to full-bodied cigar, Cosecha 151 is packaged in 10-count boxes and comes in three sizes: La Música, measuring 5 inches by 50 ring gauge; La Tradición, at 5 7/8 by 54; and San Diego, a 5 3/4-by-46 corona gorda. The cigars have suggested retail prices of $13.50, $16 and $13.30 each. They are rolled in Honduras.
This is the third brand in Plasencia’s Cosecha series. The Cosecha 146, which came out in 2017, honored the company’s first harvest. Cosecha 146 is no longer made, as the tobacco from that particular vintage ran out. This was followed by Cosecha 149 in 2021.
