Local girls and troops in the Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways (GSNYPENN) Council recently launched their annual fall product program, Treats, Reads & More (TRM). Online and in-person sales help troops earn important start-up funds to begin the new member year while girls learn entrepreneurial and leadership skills—key components of the Girl Scout experience.
Treat offerings include nuts and candy, pecan clusters, cheddar caramel crunch mix, peanut butter bears, fruit slices, Thai chili mix and chocolate-covered raisins, among others. The program also includes magazine subscriptions (such as Vogue, Bon Appetit and Better Homes & Gardens) and two new products, Tervis Tumblers and Girl Scout-themed BarkBoxes for four-legged friends. Girls earn special rewards based on goals they set and items they sell during the program.
Products are sold through Girl Scouts’ online storefronts and physical order cards. By participating in the TRM program, they practice five key entrepreneurial skills: goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics. The local girl delivery order option ends on Oct. 29. Customers can also purchase products online for direct shipment through Nov. 12.
All proceeds stay local to the council. To support a GSNYPENN Girl Scout during Treats, Reads & More, contact Customer Care at 315-698-9400, 800-943-4414, info@gsnypenn.org or via the Let’s Chat feature at gsnypenn.org to be connected with an individual girl, troop or Service Unit participating in the program.
Customers may also donate through the council’s Sweet Support Gift of Caring program during TRM. For every $6 donation a girl receives, the council donates a can of honey-roasted peanuts to Operation Gratitude. That organization forges strong bonds between Americans and military/first responder heroes through volunteer service projects, acts of gratitude and meaningful engagements in communities nationwide.
