Harding will have the opportunity to play for Team Canada in the GLOBL JAM, set for July 12-16 in his hometown of Toronto.
Central Michigan junior center Markus Harding will represent his native Canada on its Under-23 National Men’s Basketball Team at the 2023 GLOBL JAM.
The four round GLOBL JAM in Toronto will be played from July 12-16. Team Canada will face Team Africa on July 12, the United States on July 13, and Germany on July 15. The Bronze Medal game is scheduled for July 16 at 1:30 p.m. and the Gold Medal contest will be played on July 16 at 8 p.m.
GLOBL JAM Fives is a 5-on-5 Under-23 basketball tournament featuring men’s and women’s teams from around the world. Harding will join other top Canadian athletes currently playing on other NCAA teams. Full rosters are not yet available. The tournament can be accessed in Canada on Sportsnet. A 6-foot-10-inch center, Harding is a Toronto, Ontario native. Last year as a sophomore at Central Michigan, Harding played in 24 games with 17 starts and averaged 9.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 21.5 minutes per game. He converted 47.6 percent (81-170) of his field goal attempts, 30.4 percent (21-69) of his 3-point attempts and 68.3 percent (41-60) of his free throw attempts, and also added 17 assists, nine blocks and seven steals. On the year, he registered 11 double figure scoring games and one 20-point performance, including a career-high 22 points (7-8 FG) and hit a career-high five 3-pointers at Kent State on January 31.
Through the years, Harding has been involved with the Canadian National Basketball program.
