Police arrested a man accused of stomping on a kitten trapped inside a bag Tuesday night in Oklahoma City.
Booking records state that around 7:40 p.m. Tuesday, an Oklahoma City police officer went to the area near Southwest 39th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue after receiving a report that someone was stomping on a bag with a puppy inside behind a Braum’s. The officer found the suspect and reached him when he was picking the bag off the ground, according to the booking report.
The officer reported that they saw an animal inside the bag from a distance and detained the suspect while they investigated.
Another officer arrived at the scene and found a small kitten inside the bag, authorities said. The kitten was barely breathing and wasn’t moving.
Authorities identified the suspect as Zerick Rinehart, 31. He was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on counts of animal cruelty and loitering.
