Theodore W. “Ted” “Chief” Mosley, 75, of Auburn, died Friday following a long illness.
A native of Auburn, he lived in Central New York most of his life but traveled extensively throughout his military career, according to his obituary.
He served in the U.S. Air Force and Air Guard, rising to the rank of command chief master sergeant at the 174th Attack Wing in Syracuse. He was the first command chief at the 174th from 1999 to 2004.
He served active duty overseas in England, Turkey, Norway, Germany and Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War, and also was stationed across the United States.
He was passionate about music and played keyboards and guitar starting in the 1960s while in high school. He once performed at the World’s Fair in New York City, according to his obituary.
He also performed in the Dreamers, the Ted Mosley Trio and Moondance, a wedding and party band iconic in the area.
He was a former vice president of the Ukrainian National Club and a committee member for many years with the United Way of Cayuga County.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Ss. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 136 Washington St., Auburn, followed by a celebration of his life at the Ukrainian National Club.
